American Kenpo Karate Kicks, these are the kicks we were taught in our Kenpo school, most schools might have different kicking techniques or even less in their requirements. But you will find that most of these are used at most Kenpo Karate Studios nowadays. You might also find that one kick could have a different name and also be found at a different belt rank requirement as well.

Recommendations for your kicks in Kenpo Karate

  • Always warm-up before kicking drills.
  • Always stretch before kicking drills.
  • Keep your hands up.
  • Keep your back straight.
  • Don’t force the kick if your flexibility is not enough.
  • Stretch your legs, hips, and lower back.
  • Before you throw a kick you need to know the target.
  • Don’t overextend your leg when you kick.
  • Remember that the force you are producing has to be transferred onto something otherwise you will hurt your knees.
