Balance is one of the most important aspects of any martial art. Without proper basic balance your kicks would not be effective at all, you could do 180 splits and be very flexible but if you cannot control your balance none of your kicks would do what you need.
Aligment is one of the basic steps to master balance, another thing to keep in mind is to keep your hand up at all times, if you don’t and you let them move around then you will more likely to lose control with any move.
