How to Play Softball

There are several different types of softball being played today. Most commonly is fast-pitch softball and slow-pitch softball. Fast-pitch softball is played both at men’s and women’s level, all the way from youth to adult. Slow-pitch is typically played at the adult level and recreationally, but there is also some slow-pitch played at the professional level as well. Softball’s made up of two teams, nine to twelve players and the object of the game is to score more runs than the other team, by advancing runners around the bases. There are typically nine players on a softball field. A pitcher, a catcher, four infielders and three outfielders. In many slow-pitch leagues, especially at the coed or women’s game it is played with four outfielders.
