How to Do a Front Kick Defense

Front Kick Defense

All right, guys. Now I’m going to go over front kick defense in kickboxing. Face me. All right, now this is very similar to a parrying, but this is going to be a little more exaggerated. Do your front kick nice and slow. Melissa is going to try and kick me right here. My goal right now is to take my hand and with a swoop, downward swoop to catch her before she makes contact, and swipe it right back down. So in a little bit more normal timing, it will look like this. Come right back down and again.

Every time you parry this front kick, you want to close your opponent off. So left front kick, closing them off. Right front kick, closing them off. Good. If you do this left front kick and open them up now they can come advance, take advantage of that momentum, and kick you. Obviously, you don’t want that. Come right back. So make sure, left front kick, it’s always closing them towards the body, right front kick and then you take advantage of the position. That’s how you defend against a front kick in kickboxing.
